Hi, We help camp professionals communicate what camp actually does for kids.
A letter to camp directors who know their work matters
Being a camp professional means believing in something most of the world has forgotten. That kids need unstructured time. That real friendships form away from screens. That struggling through homesickness builds resilience. That the best childhood memories happen outside, with friends, doing things that matter.
The camp director doesn't ask "How do I fill more spots?"
They ask "How do I show families what camp actually does?" Because camp isn't a product. It's a developmental environment disguised as summer fun.
This work isn't about revenue targets or marketing funnels. It's about getting more kids to places where they can be kids. Where they learn to navigate conflict without walking away. Where they discover they're braver than they thought.
The Summer Camp Society exists for camp professionals who want to get better at the impossible work you're already doing.

Who We Are
Jack Schott
Jack owns and runs Camps Kenwood & Evergreen in New Hampshire. He just finished his first summer as an owner, so everything here got tested on a real camp about five minutes ago.
Doug Norrie
Doug is a narrative strategist and ghostwriter. He writes weekly parent-facing communication for day and overnight camps around the country, and his work reached more than 100,000 camp families and camp professionals this year.
One of us runs a camp. One of us writes for a bunch of them. We see the same problems from both sides.
